An example of organic mixture between architecture styles of different eras... Can you guess what's here a Functionalism from 1930ies and what's - postmodernism of half century later, 1980ies? The answer - lanterns in forefront and the next buulding in distance is from 80ies, the brown building is Functionalism classics from 1935.

Parallel Universe, Snake and Functionalsim; all great photos Ikars! Too bad those 1980s light posts are in front of an otherwise beautiful building in this one.

Those lanterns? No, I very like them! I think they fits with buildings perfectly. I even didn't know they are from 80ies.

ReplyDeleteThese laterns goes together with the two buildings on Kaļķu street (hotel de Rome and Swedbank branch).
ReplyDeleteFunctionalism of Riga is worth exploring closer - these building seems to be perfect in forms and proportions.
