Powder Tower (initially - Sand Tower) was the largest fortification tower in Riga's medieval fortification wall. It's walls are 3 metres thick. Tower's recent name has originated from the fact that gunpowder was kept there in 17th Century. In 1919, Latvian War museum was established here.
