Out-of-Riga Sunday: Jūrmala watchtower
Yesterday visited this watchtower in Riga's sea resort satellite town Jūrmala (both cities is next to one another, sharing one border). This is pretty new tower, built just about year or two ago and is located in very nice, modern and high-quality reconstructed park which is called "Dzintaru Mežaparks" (Riga has it's Mežaparks, and this is like Jūrmala's smaller version). Tower itself is also architectural success, it blends together with pine forest very naturally and at the same time looks rather futuristic. From the tower you can see Riga skyline from far away (I promise to post it soon), as well as forest and, of, course, sea - main feature of Jūrmala (jūrmala = seaside in Latvian):

Interesting design.n I'd probably stay up there for a while looking at the view and shooting panorama photos.
ReplyDeleteVery nice..
ReplyDelete@Steffe - that's exactly what I did. However the view is not very diverse - basically looks like forest, because Jūrmala as a resort town has low-rise built-up (mostly villas), only few larger hotel buildings rising above trees.
ReplyDeleteThe tower is just great!
