Out-of-Riga Sunday: Nākotne village
"Nākotne" (which means "future" in Latvian) is a village between Jelgava and Dobele towns, situated in open scenery of agriculture fields. It was the very first kolkhoz (collective farm) in Soviet time, and was founded in 1946. Nākotne was also one of the most advanced kolkhozs and even now, when driving by, it's title and beautiful setting creates a sense of bright perspective of tomorrow although in reality it's glory is long gone.
