DNB bank building
"The year will be like it's start" - such a saying is popular here. So, when thinking how to start this year in Photoriga blog, I immediately came to conlusion to show some good modern architecture because it is one of things which Riga lacks most.
One of the nicest modern additions to the city is DNB bank headoffices in Skanste district. It was designed by internationally recognized Lithuanian architect Audrius Ambrasas office and completed in 2010. It also got the Riga Architecture prize as the best new building last year.
I wish many new and good modern architecture buildings to my Riga and your city as well in this year!

It looks lonely.
ReplyDeletefantastic building and fantastic reflections in first pic! 2nd pic is awesome too, with sun reflection! :)
ReplyDeleteagree, Steffe!
It is lonely, because this is new development area (despite being right next to centre), it started to develop only some 10 years ago, now there are some 8 high- and low-rise buildings in about square km area. It is planned to build a whole new quarters there. But, I have to say, this loneliness feeling gives a special charm to the place currently.
