Matīsa cemetery | Matīsa kapi
Matīsa cemetery is located next to Riga centre southern side. It was created in 1871 as a cemetery for invalids and poors, but later there many killed ones in revolutions and wars were buried there - fatalities of 1905-1907 revolution, 1st World War, Latvian Independence War, 2nd World War and also victims of "Red" and "White" terrors.
You can see that in Latvia cemeteries are always between trees, they're like a small forests.

Why not use the photos from the city from the actual calendar day? Today's photos clearly has been made in very late spring/early summer.
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion. Having the photos of the particular date the page would better depict the city.
So seems more like a resting place than without trees.
