Protest supporting freedom of speech | Protests par vārda brīvību
Today there was a protest in Riga against the censorship and attack to the freedom of speech/media. There was a recent scandal about Radio Naba programme "Tēvijas Laikmets" which openly spoke about Jews participation in communist genocide (deportations to Syberia) against Latvian people back in 40ies. Israel embassy reacted with complaint to National Council of Electronic Mass Media and... it took a decision to stop the radio programme! I tend to agree that it's a pure censorship and subservience, because in the programme itself, although there were problems regarding to journalistic quality and objectivity, was nothing so criminal (ethnic hate rousing) to stop it. The protest started at Israel embassy. There weren't many people, sadly. Only about 60, including media representatives and policemans. Here you see the main host of the programme, Roberts Klimovičs:
Then protesters went to Ministry of Foreign Affairs building (which also had it's role in the scandal):
And, at last, it ended at Latvia Radio building (there resides officials who took decision about stopping radio programme):
