Theme Day: Heights
One of the first real "heights" (apart from medieval church towers) in Riga was this Stalinist highrise, nowadays Science academy, which was built in 50ies and at that time with it's 108 metres height was one of highest reinforced concrete buildings in the world. On the second photo you see the newest finished highrises in Riga which are called "Skanstes heights". These are one of most desirable places for highrise living in Riga, because they are located next to centre, in a developing, modern area. Of course, not a an average citizen can afford to rent or buy a flat there. See heights in other cities around the world.

I especially love your top shot. Love that light on the high rise and the building design as well. Such a contrast to the low rise buildings.
ReplyDeleteInteresting contribution to the theme day. The first one reminds me of my visit to your city 3 years ago. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove that old one.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the light on the building of the first shot!
