Brīvības gatve 214 - former VEF building
VEF was one of Latvia's all time largest and most important factories, which doesn't exist anymore. At least one of it's historical buildings - the landmark one with the Prometheus sculpture - has been restored. Initially it was built for another manufactory in 1899 and decorated with this impressive Eclecticism facade, with Prometheus (who, as we know, brought people the light - and the factory produced electricity, so Prometheus was chosen as an appropriate symbol) figure and six round log windows as the main elements. It's one of the most beautiful buildings of historical industrial heritage in Latvia.
