Skārņu iela 11

Skārņu street 11 is apartment building (built 2015) in the very heart of Old Town. It has been nicknamed by the locals as "pineapple", and there has been heated debates about whether it's succesful or not. In my mind, the building is as succesful as it can be - it certainly improves the place not degrades it. If you don't want, you can easily ignore it - it's so unobtrusive and well-blending with surroundings. But if you want to see it, then it reveals very extraordinary character. One of rare truly high class contemporary architecture examples in Riga, imo. And expensive as hell too - flats costs there around 7000 EUR per square meter. Interesting that there are only 6 flats there - each flat occupies whole floor. In the 1st floor, the restaurant is opened.

Skārņu iela 11 ir 2015. gadā uzbūvēta dzīvokļu ēka pašā Vecrīgas sirdī. Vietējie to iesaukuši par "ananāsu", bet ekspertu vidū bijušas karstas debates par to, cik šis projekts ir izdevies. Manuprāt, tas ir tik izdevies, cik vien var būt (atrašanās vietā ar tik augstām prasībām) - ēka pat uzlabo vietas estētiku. Tai piemīt unikāla "spoguļa demokrātijas" īpašība - ja nevēlies ēku redzēt, vari to pat nepamanīt, jo tā ir neuzbāzīga un lieliski saplūst ar apkārtni. Bet, ja vēlies tajā ieskatīties, tā uzreiz atklāj savu oriģinālo raksturu. Skārņu 11 ir viens no retajiem patiešām augstas klases modernās arhitektūras piemēriem Rīgā. Un dārga arī tā ir pēc velna - dzīvoklis šeit maksā ap 7000 eiro kvadrātmetrā.
